Parent Volunteer Program
Due to COVID Restrictions, Parent Volunteer Hours have been waived for the 2020-21 school year.
Program Mission: GA believes that the education of our students is a partnership with our families. We would like to encourage involvement through the Parent Participation Program (PPP). This program is an opportunity for parents to become involved in their child’s education by helping the school accomplish its goals. Each family is required to volunteer a total number of 10 hours each year.
Reporting Parent Volunteer Hours: You may keep track of your service hours by downloading the sheet provided below and upon completion, submitting it to the front office. We would encourage you to continue to check back for additional service opportunities.
Genesee Academy Parent Volunteer Program (PVP):
- 10 hrs/year per family
- 5 hrs/year for a single parent (the one who pays the tuition)
- At least one 2-hour parent workshop
- Duration: September – May (no carry over to next year)
- $ 10/hr for every hour not served
- $ 15/hr for every hour parent workshop not attended
- Volunteering should be by a parent/guardian but not a sibling or a relative.
- Volunteering to go in a field trip with your child’s classroom is not counted.
- PVP hour tally card is due on June 1st.
- Board and PTO members are exempted from the 10 hour volunteering since they spend many more hours than 10 hours throughout the year; however, they are not exempted from the one 2-hour parent workshop.
- Examples of volunteering: Hot lunch, clubs, library, tutoring, helping in the classrooms (other than your child’s classroom), subbing, school events.
